Buy a copy of my new book and discover how I found I was suffering from FATorexia and begin to understand how you can look fabulous no matter what your size.
I tell my story after being horrified to find out that I was obese from my GP. I thought I was a 'bit overweight' but nowhere near OBESE!
I needed to understand how this had happened and why I couldn't see how fat I actually was.
Was there a name for this condition? If I couldn't see just how fat I really was - WHY? Were there other women and men out there who also didn't see their real body shape and size and were like me in denial???
I had to find out why and how this happened so I researched similar problems and conditions and tracked my thoughts and feelings over the next 5 years and discovered that what I had was like anorexia in reverse. I named this condition FATorexia as I thought this best described what and how I was feeling and what I saw in the mirror - which was a much thinner person staring back.
I found many other women and men were in exactly this same frame of mind - where we cannot see how fat we have become. Many of us had yo-yo dieted for years and every time just put more and more weight back on to the point where our bodies became so confused we just did not see the fat any more, you see I knew that I was not alone, there are millions of us out there and we need this condition recognised and treated accordingly. I am not prepared to have a GP dismiss me with a salutary 'go away and lose five stone' I want help and empathy and we deserve proper care and support.
FATorexia is a phenomenon, and has attracted worldwide attention from the media and people just like me. FATOREXICS! Also it has attracted its fair share of critics too but debate is always good and most of the criticism has come from people who comment on 1 snippet of information rather than from understanding the whole concept of FATorexia.
Since I completed my Book and it went on sale in March 2010, FATorexia has appeared in the Daily Mail, I was invited to talk about FATorexia on the 'This Morning Show', it has been featured in a ladies Magazine in Brazil, Cosmopolitan on line is South Africa, has had exposure in Russia, Estonia, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Croatia to name but a few. The San Francisco Chronicle featured the story on 24th May which has just brought FATorexia to the attention of the press and people of both the USA and Canada.
I am also working with a Famous TV producer who is filming a documentary on the topic to be aired later this year or the beginning of 2011, which is very exciting for all of us FATorexia sufferers out there.
I thank the hundreds of you that have already contacted me through my website with your support, comments and feedback and I know that we will be joined by thousands more people over this next few months as FATorexia gains the following and support that it need if I am going to achieve my goal of having this very serious and life threatening condition recognised and treated accordingly by the medical profession.
This is my dream and I will achieve it with your help so please tell me your stories and buy the book and see if FATorexia can help you like it has helped me and many others so far!
